A very brave Mr Grant and an evn braver Mrs Carrick accompanied 28 pupils on a sports trip to Milan in March. Our teams were guests of the Sir James Henderson School who have visited us here on several occasions. Despite some tense, nervous and exciting moments at the airport whilst permits etc, were checked - and checked, and checked the group managed to Easyjet to Italy with all it's players.
The very successful trip - socially, culturally and in terms of competition - was exhausting. When pupils were not taking part in games they were sight seeing, watching plays, being dined and soft drinked. Some visited the San Siro stadium but a good number made the train journey to Lake Como where they had a fabulous, sunny cruise on the lake followed by spaghetti and pizza and a rush to catch the train! Fortunately, Mrs Carrick's friend Professor LaBue managed to get the train delayed or else half of our players would have missed the final games.
Both teachers on the trip were pleased with the way pupils conducted themselves both on and off the field of play but it is clear that our pupils need much more exercise in walking!
A very special vote of thanks and expression of appreciation to Mr Johnston in Milan and to all of the good parents of Henderson pupils who hosted our pupils.
