Forensics 2009 - 'We still have it'
|
|
The 2009 Panhellenic Forensics Tournament was held at Anatolia College in Thessalonki. Continuing the long tradition of excellent team performances Byron was this year represented by: Hattem Attari, Nikos Nomikos, Dylan Windel, Daniel Tiutuin, Alexander Fakinos, Christine Saifi, Maria-Veronica Soliman, Ayesha Shakil, Victoriana Preda and Laila Bankousli.
Our small team were a part of the total 15 Schools, 362 pupils participating. The weather and the demanding schedule did not really allow for much time to go sight seeing or shopping but no time was wasted. All pupils and staff will long have fond memories of nights in the hotel lounge rehearsing; celebrating Victorianna's birthday and generally enjoyin each others company.
Participation in the competition was exhausting but the Saturday night party at Anatolia was a great social relief and highlight. Our pupils mixed with children from all the Schools and if a prize was awarded for dancing and stayin power then Byron would have won easily!
On finals day Byron College once again showed the talent and the work that goes into fulfilling it will bring its true rewards. All pupils gave of their best and all fully supported the efforts of others. We are proud to announce the following, most notable achievments:
Christine Saifi - First Among Equals in Oratory Dylan Windell - Finalist in Oral Interpretation of Literature Christine Saifi & Alexander Fakinos - Honourable Mention in Duet Acting.
All the participants want to thank Ms Pardakis for taking so much care of them and Ms Spyraki for coaching, inspiring them and "patiently bearing with us" through the whole journey and experience.
We'll be back next year in Athens!
